Reboot the Mac and press Command + R keys during startup until you hear a chime. I’ve never used it and it sounds very similar to doing a clean install of your OS (probably just one of the available restore methods presented to you when you try to do a restore) but it is still an erase and clean install feature so backing up is still advised. When you erase a hard drive, you basically format NTFS on Mac and change the format to a compatible one like AFPS or Mac OS X Extended (Journaled). Another option is the Apple Store, but I wouldn’t exactly recommend that now cause of COVID stuff so hopefully one of those other two options works for you! I think Phillip also recommended the Internet Recovery Mode. Definitely backup everything before you attempt to do that. If you already tried that and it doesn’t work, I would consider a clean install of your OS. So if you are not yet on that version, update that first before you attempt to update to macOS Catalina.
It appears that some folks are using office 2019 with different identities on macOS Catalina with version 16.30. So that would include any 32-bit profile manager. Phillips posted and restart your computer in Safe Mode. macOS Catalina does not work with any 32-bit apps, that is correct.
